The CARICON Prize

The CARICON Prize is an annual literary award that honors outstanding works by Caribbean authors and storytellers across the diaspora. Celebrating excellence in Caribbean literature, the prize recognizes books that exemplify powerful storytelling, cultural relevance, and literary innovation.

Launched in 2025, the CARICON Prize spotlights voices that explore the richness, complexity, and evolution of Caribbean identity and experience. Awards are presented in four key categories:

  • Fiction

  • Poetry

  • Children’s Literature

  • Young Adult Literature

Each year, a shortlist of nominees is announced, with winners selected through a combination of jury review and audience participation. The awards are formally presented at the CARICON Literary Conference each June, bringing authors, readers, publishers, and cultural advocates together in celebration of literary excellence.
